There are lots of penguins on the beach and rocks at the end of our street in Simon’s Town. Intensely cute and anthropomorphic
Also, there are somewhat amusing signs everywhere as below
We weren’t quite sure if the penguins were stealing auto parts or – in a country where car jacking is the national sport – they just figured that since they couldn’t fly they might as well drive.
But no, penguins really do sit under cards (they like the shade) … so we now do something we never imagined – check for penguins underneath, before starting the car
